New Hinksey Community Involvement

Examples of the school’s involvement in the local community include:

  • Harvest Festival boxes are donated by New Hinksey families. The boxes are delivered by children to the elderly within the local area
  • Christmas singing with Senior citizens
  • PCSOs visit school to talk to older children about their role in the local community. They hold ‘have your say’ sessions after school and help out at the Summer Fete (our annual community event)
  • We have a link with a local hospital – Injury Immunisation Programme (IMPs)
  • Year 6 children take part in Junior Citizen Certificate
  • Local businesses and charities run stalls at school events and donate raffle prizes
  • Local parishioners are invited to attend school church services such as Harvest Festival and Christingle
  • Neighbours with particular skills and expertise lead sessions and workshops within the school
  • Local volunteers regularly listen to children read in school
  • The School is a member of the local allotment association and the children partake in activities such as the annual scarecrow competition. Children meet members of the allotment community while they are tending the school’s plot.
