New Hinksey Primary is a diverse primary school within the city of Oxford.  We are welcoming and inclusive, serving our South Oxford community by providing an education of the highest quality, in accordance with Christian principles and the values that inform and underpin British society, in particular those of democracy, individual liberty, kindness and tolerance, equality of opportunity, freedom of speech and respect for law and order.

Our children come from many different backgrounds, and all are encouraged to explore the meaning of faith, spiritual growth, and religious observance in an atmosphere of tolerance and mutual respect.

Many different languages are spoken in the homes of our children, and their families have links with diverse parts of the world. Celebrating our multi-faith and multi-cultural nature is an important part of our school’s identity. We are committed to nurturing pupils in an atmosphere of equal opportunity for all.

Our vision is to provide a high-quality education where everyone is valued and supported to enjoy learning and achieve their full potential.

Living “life in all its fullness” (John 10:10) underpins and drives us in promoting curiosity and creativity so that every child flourishes through:

  • Faith: developing courage, perseverance and resilience,
  • Hope: showing respect, equality, inclusivity and honesty,
  • Love: being compassionate, empathetic, kind and encouraging.

The school’s relatively small size enables staff to know all the children in the school by name, and each child is respected as an individual with a unique contribution to make. We believe that children learn best when home and school work in creative partnership, and so we seek to involve parents, carers, and families in all facets of school life.

Parents and carers are always welcome in our school.
